We see the full range of heart conditions in our clinics.

Dr Idris Harding is a heart rhythm specialist in Kent and London, highly skilled in evaluation of palpitations, breathlessness and chest pains.

Cardiac Conditions

  • Atrial Fibrillation

Atrial fibrillation is a leading cause of palpitations and breathlessness, with a wide range of causes. Detecting AF is impoirtant as it is a major risk factor for strokes, some of which can be prevented.

  • Bradycardia (slow heart beat)

Slow heart beats may be normal or abnormal, and some may be dangerous if left untreated. We use diagnostic tests such as ECG, Holter monitor, and wearable devices to risk stratify, diagnose and treat all forms of bradycardia.

  • Diabetes and the Heart

Diabetes can cause or worsen most cardiac diseases, with particular effects on ischaemic heart disease, heart failure and come cardiac arrhythmias. Dr Harding has a PhD in diabetic heart disease and sees patients with a range of hormonal conditions contributing to their cardiac conditions.

  • High Blood Pressure

Hypertension is one of the most common cardiovascular conditions. We have access to home, clinic and ambulatory blood pressure measurement tech to ensure you are accurately diagnosed and effectively treated for this silent condition.

  • Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (PoTS)

PoTS causes palpitations and fatigue on standing due to failure of regulation of the blood pressure and heart rate. Sufferers can be seriously limited by intrusive symptoms.

  • Sleep Apnoea and the Heart

Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is a major risk factor for many heart diseases. Early diagnosis and treatment can be important to enable control of conditions such as hypertension and atrial fibrillation. We work closely with sleep specialists to diagnose and manage the cardiac effects of OSA.

  • Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT)

SVTs cause attacks of palpitations, sometimes accompanied by chest tightness or lightheadedness. As a cardiac electrophysiologist, Dr Harding is expert in the diagnosis and management of SVT.

  • Syncope (passing out)

Syncope is the most common cause of temporary loss of consciousness. It is caused by an interruption of blood flow to the brain. Heart rhythm issues, blood pressure problems and autonomic dysfunction are common causes.

  • Tachycardia (fast heart beat)

Tachycardia is the medical term for a fast heart beat. Some tachycardia is normal, but other forms of heart beat can be abnormal or even dangerous. We use advanced tests and wearables to advise patients on managing tachycardias of all kinds.
